Governance

Moor House School & College Governors work with the Senior Leadership Team to:

  • Provide a clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Oversee the financial performance of the school and ensure money is well spent
  • Ensure educational performance is maintained to the highest of standards

Our Governors and Trustees sit across seven committees, each with different roles and policy responsibilities. Each committee meets four times each year and reports to the full board of Governors.

Every Child Matters

Chair: Sue Jones (Trustee)

Role: To monitor, support and recommend improvements in the outcomes of the government’s Every Child Matters agenda.

Progress and Attainment

Role: To monitor, support and recommend improvements in all aspects of student progress and attainment in education, therapy and care including health & well-being.

Finance and Human Resources

Chair: Stuart Dennison (Vice-Chair, Trustees and Full Governing Body)

Clerk: Helen Jakeways (Clerk to the Trustees and Full Governing Body)

Role: To monitor, support and recommend improvements in financial planning, performance and human resources strategy, policies and practices.

Policies monitored: Recruitment and Selection; Staff Attendance; Performance and Pay (Teachers); Grievance; Discipline; Capability; Data Protection (including Acceptable use of Technology); Redundancy; Data Retention and Archiving; Charging and Remissions

Fundraising and Marketing

Chair: Bob Perry (Trustee)

Members: Lisa Harlow, Roger McCorriston, David Marnham (Trustees)

Other: Marketing and Communications Officer, Fundraising Officer

Role: To monitor, support and recommend improvements in fundraising, marketing and communications to the Governors and provide oversight of the Friends of Moor House.

Research and Ethics Panel

Chair: Christine Combes (Trustee)

Role: To approve, approve subject to amendments, or reject internal and external research proposals submitted by the Internal Ethics Committee.
