A Rising Star

At just 18, Moor House College student Alex Whyte is already making a name for himself in the world of 10m rifle shooting.
Introduced to the sport by his mum in the summer of 2023, Alex quickly discovered a passion for the discipline. “It’s fun, and the focus you need is actually really calming,” he says.
Alex trains at Bookham Rifle Club, where he hones his skills every week. He is currently ranked number one in the UK for his age and recently secured a spot at the National Schools Championships in February, where he will represent Moor House.
To qualify, Alex recently competed in a preliminary competition in London and finished an impressive second place in a tough field, with only the top three earning a place at the championships.
His commitment to the sport is clear, and this month will also mark another milestone as he undergoes assessment by British Shooting for Paralympic classification.
“My dream would be to represent Great Britain in shooting” he says.
With talent, focus, and determination, Alex Whyte is certainly a name to watch in the world of competitive shooting.
Good luck at the Nationals, Alex, we’re all cheering you on!
