Humphrey Climbs Ben Nevis

Earlier this summer alumni Humphrey Webster, joined by his fiancée Kate and best friend Matt, took on the huge challenge of climbing Ben Nevis, raising £878.50 for Moor House.

Humphrey, who recently finished at Bournemouth University, wanted to mark the end of his studies with something special. “I wanted to take on some challenges in 2025, starting with Ben Nevis,” he said. “I’ve never climbed a mountain before, so why not start with the tallest one in the UK?”

Humphrey’s reason for fundraising is close to his heart. “Moor House is an excellent School and College for people with DLD. Helping raise money to support its future is an honour and a privilege.”

Not only did they reach the summit, but at 6 hours and 36 minutes, they also finished faster than most, beating the average time by more than half an hour. “The feeling after completing it was extremely rewarding, especially because it was our first time climbing a mountain.”

Humphrey credits Moor House with helping him become the confident person he is today. “Before starting at Moor House, I was very shy and introverted. When I finished, I was so much more confident, and Moor House was pivotal in helping me reach my goal of getting to university. The teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists and teaching assistants were amazing. My time at Moor House is one I’ll never forget, and the memories will last with me forever.”

Ben Nevis is just the start for Humphrey. He’s already thinking about more challenges in the future.

We’re so proud of you, Humphrey! Thank you for supporting Moor House and inspiring us all to reach new heights.
