Members of the Moor House School & College (MHSC) student council recently enjoyed an exciting visit to Ducklys Farm, West Sussex, after they chose Diagrama Foundation as their chosen charity of the year.
As well as representing student views, the school council aims to support those in the community outside Moor House, raising money for charity through a number of small initiatives throughout the year.
This year, students chose Diagrama Foundation, a charity that supports vulnerable children and adults, as they felt its ethos, particularly developing independence and life skills, closely aligned with those at Moor House.
The students were delighted to accept an invitation to visit Ducklys Farm, which forms a key part of the Foundation’s work, dedicated to helping individuals build essential life skills in a nurturing, supportive environment. The experience was invaluable for the students, who not only enjoyed the interaction with the animals, but also gained a much deeper appreciation for the work the foundation does to support others.
One student said: “It was the best day ever!”, while Chloe Burchett, Teacher and School Council Co-Lead at Moor House School & College, said: “It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and interested in the skills which are taught at Duckyls Farm. What they provide to help others is service that is greatly needed. We are so grateful that we had the opportunity to visit such a fantastic place!”
Diagrama Foundation and Moor House are keen to continue the collaboration and keep the links between both organisations open, with future visits to Duckyls Farm to see some of the exciting developments planned for the site.
Keri Strugnell, the Care Farm and Community Manager at Duckyls Farm said, “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the student council from Moor House School & College to Duckyls Farm. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and kindness shone throughout the visit. It means a great deal to us that they chose Diagrama Foundation as their charity of the year. Our values around promoting independence and life skills are very much aligned. We’re excited to build on this connection and look forward to welcoming them back to see the continued progress and future developments at the farm.”
