Over 100 complete new online the SHAPE CODING™ system course

Earlier this year we launched our new online the SHAPE CODING™ system course, aimed at helping teachers and speech & language therapists teach English grammar to children with language disorders, particularly those with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).

Developed twenty years ago by Dr Susan Ebbels, the SHAPE CODINGTM system uses visual coding to show a child the rules for how words are put together in sentences, developing a child’s understanding of spoken and written grammar and their ability to use grammar successfully to express themselves.

By making the course available online, we hope many more professionals will be able to learn about the system and use it with the children they teach. To date, 135 participants have completed the course, which includes personalised feedback and certificates of completion.

One participant said: “[The course was] very detailed but accessible, at first it seems quite complicated but as you go through the course it becomes clear.

Online courses can be difficult to complete without support but this was really good.

“Online courses can be difficult to complete without support but this was really good. I had no experience of the SHAPE CODINGTM system, now I feel confident to use it, it's a great way of simplifying sentence structure.”
