Residential Care: Health Care
The medical care of the pupils is the responsibility of the School Medical Officer (Dr Tara Jones), a local GP based at the Health Centre, Oxted, with whom all pupils are registered. She holds a weekly clinic at the school and can be consulted at other times as needed. It is a requirement of the school that all pupils are registered with the School Medical Officer. Should a boy prefer to be seen by a male doctor, this can be arranged.
There is a well-equipped surgery and a small sick bay within the school, where any necessary medication and treatment can be provided by the school nurse and her deputy over the full twenty-four hour period in order to provide optimum healthcare for each pupil.
A consultant paediatrician holds regular clinics at the school. The services of a local dentist, optician and CAMHS (Community Adolescent Mental Health Service) are available. Parents are fully involved if it is thought advisable for a child to be referred to a consultant.
