A Full Assessment in order to recommend an Appropriate Educational Provision for your Child
Duration: 1.5 days
The assessment will include:
- A full clinical assessment by a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to include:
- Expressive language, including use of grammar and vocabulary
- Receptive language, including understanding of grammar and vocabulary
- Pragmatics/social use of language
- Phonology/speech
- Literacy - phonological awareness
- Informal language assessment, including language sample and interview
- Observation of Communication Skills - nonverbal and verbal.
- Full clinical assessment by an Occupational Therapist to include:
- Visual Perception Assessment
- Gross and fine motor skills Assessment
- Handwriting
- Sensory Processing Screen
- Educational assessment through class placement and feedback from Specialist Teacher
- Structured observation in dining room, playground (by School staff) and after school time - feedback from Residential Child Care Department
- Maths assessment by the Deputy Principal of school
- Literacy assessment by the Deputy Principal
- Discussion with therapist based on Parental Questionnaire previously completed.
- Clinical feedback session with parents, including an explanation of formal assessments and the predicted content of the assessment report
- Multidisciplinary meeting of staff to discuss your child's performance.
- A comprehensive multidisciplinary detailed report including recommendations for educational provision (suitable for SEN Tribunal purposes)
