 Littlebrook Power Station

On Friday 14th March, 2mp went to Littlebrook Power Station in Dartford. This trip was part of our Science study about electricity.

We arrived at 9.30 and were met by our guides Tony and Eileen. First we looked at a model of the Power station and learnt how electricity is made in the generator and then we watched a DVD all about power stations in the UK. Afterwards we had a drink and a biscuit before getting ready to go on our tour.

Tony and Eileen gave us safety helmets and goggles to wear and Miss Davies took a photograph of us all.

The tour was quite amazing; we were taken right round the site and were able to get quite close up to the huge machinery. We saw the cooling towers, turbines, generators and transformers. We also went on the viewing platform to look at The River Thames and Queen Elizabeth II Bridge.

Our tour ended in the control room, it felt like being in a space centre with all the dials, counters and screens at work monitoring the station. It was a wonderful trip and we arrived back safely at 12.30 just in time for lunch.
